BOW LODGE CAT RESCUE
Essie (Zana) arrived a year ago. Thank you Bow Lodge for bringing this fabulous funny entertaining little girl into our lives. She was very timid at first but has made up for it since.
She might be small but has a huge character. She thinks she’s a puppy dog, she follows us everywhere & brings many gifts at least one a day if not two. Keep up your fantastic work as it’s not only the cats you make happy it’s whole families xx |
This is Phoebe having a stroke from our niece. We got her from Bow Lodge March 2019 and they were brilliant. We met Phoebe first, and my son (then 6) fell instantly in love. A home visit was made and they brought Phoebe with them. She's a beautiful and affectionate little lady who loves a fuss. We heard she was a brilliant mum before she came to us, but her mummy days are over now. Bow Lodge were so supportive with helping with guidance to get her settled in with our other cat. It feels like we've always had Phoebe now, who at times is more like a lil dog when she follows our son when we go out for a walk, or when she greets him out the front with a meow and running over to him when he gets home. Thanks Bow Lodge 💙.
We adopted Pepper from Bow Lodge in March. Between my family we have adopted two other cats previously from them and have been blown away by the way the team are able to describe their personalities so perfectly! As always the team were very up front and honest about the kind of cat Pepper was. Not much is known about her background but she was very defensive, scared, did not want to be handled or even looked at. Aside from hissing she also does not make any sound at all ever. We couldn’t even pick her up to bring her home, we had to take her in the carrier she lived in at her foster home! For two months she did not come out at all during the day. We only heard her at night walking around investigating the house.
But since then she has come such a long way! She loves to play and is so nosey and mischievous. We’ve worked hard to earn her trust with patience and giving her “safe zones” in the house where we ignore her. She was particularly scared of our hands and feet so we’ve spent a lot of time helping her learn we are not a threat. Although we still haven’t managed to give her a cuddle, we are so proud of her for gaining confidence and trust. She now happily trots into the kitchen while we’re cooking. Sits on the sofa if we’re nearby. Let’s us know when she’s ready to play by sitting on her toys. And waits for us downstairs every morning (for food I’m sure but we like to think we’re growing on her!)
I wanted to write this post to show that with patience every cat deserves a chance. Not every cat has had a good experience and it’s really been amazing for us to see that she’s now happy. Every week she makes more progress and we love having her here with us so much 🧡
Also want to add at the end that you all do such an amazing job and I hope everyone considers rescue whether it is a friendly easy cat (like our other two with my my Nan and aunt) or more tricky like pepper with me xx
